Product Description Disney The Nightmare Before Christmas [Blu-ray] Now digitally restored and remastered with state-of-the-art technology, THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS is deeper, darker and more brilliant than ever just as Tim Burton originally envisioned it on Blu-ray Disc Bored with the same old scare-and-scream routine, Pumpkin King Jack Skellington longs to spread the joy of Christmas. But his merry mission puts Santa in jeopardy and creates a nightmare for good little boys and girls everywhere! Hear the genius of Danny Elfman's sensational music in 7.1 Surround Sound as the fantastic talents and imaginations of Tim Burton and Henry Selick come to life in stunning Hi-Def. THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS now even more eerie and extraordinary on Blu-ray High Definition!
Amazon.com For those who never thought Disney would release a film in which Santa Claus is kidnapped and tortured, well, here it is! The full title is Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, which should give you an idea of the tone of this stop-action animated musical/fantasy/horror/comedy. It is based on characters created by Burton, the former Disney animator best known as the director of Pee-wee's Big Adventure, Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and the first two Batman movies. His benignly scary-funny sensibility dominates the story of Halloweentown resident Jack Skellington (voice by Danny Elfman, who also wrote the songs), who stumbles on a bizarre and fascinating alternative universe called ... Christmastown! Directed by Henry Selick (who later made the delightful James and the Giant Peach), this PG-rated picture has a reassuringly light touch. As Roger Ebert noted in his review, "some of the Halloween creatures might be a tad scary for smaller children, but this is the kind of movie older kids will eat up; it has the kind of offbeat, subversive energy that tells them wonderful things are likely to happen." --Jim Emerson

Our family has loved Burton's other movies, and appreciate his quirky sensibility, but we found this one unwatchable. We literally stopped it halfway. The whole thing is sung, in the style of a generic Broadway musical. Neither the world of holiday towns, nor the story, engaged us at all.
great movie January 4, 2009 W. O'Hara
I loved this movie and when i was in Guam you couldn't find it anywhere but amazon delivered it made my christmas.
Happy with my order January 3, 2009 Edward J. Kovack III (Bellflower, CA (Bellflower is in Los Angeles))
I ordered this as a Christmas gift from this seller. Thank you! He wanted it so bad so I was very happy to get it. We even went on the ride at Disneyland & it showed it on the DVD! Very much so worth getting.. Doesn't have the puffy cover which I thought it did, but still.. Get it, this movie is wonderful!
Ok movie, BAD digital copy December 23, 2008 J. Strickland 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The digital copy has so many restrictions on the installation that it makes it less than worthless. I say less than worthless because you have to install Disney junk on your computer before you can do the ONE installation that the disc allows. Don't fall for this rip off. Get the version that has no digital copy and use a DVD ripper to make your own.
A most excellent classic December 22, 2008 Mr. Mark E. Barron (Austin, Texas United States)
My 10-year-old has loved this movie since she was 4, and I've lost count the number of times I've watched it with her. The blu-ray version is good but falls a bit short of my expectations.
